Low Level Carbon Monoxide Detector

Spread the love

Carbon Monoxide detectors are designed to sound an alarm before dangerous levels of CO accumulate in an environment, giving people adequate warning to ventilate the area or evacuate. Some system-connected detectors also alert a monitoring service that can dispatch emergency services if necessary. Most home detectors are only sensitive to long-term exposures of CO in the 30 ppm range or below. These long term exposures are likely to be harmless to working age adults but may have adverse health effects on infants and children, pregnant women (and their unborn fetuses), elderly individuals, smokers, or those with pre-existing medical or respiratory conditions.

Do cheap carbon monoxide detectors work?

The LL6070 is an advanced professional quality, sealed lithium battery powered CO “health” monitor that uses the largest and longest life electrochemical sensor on the market. The LL6070 continuously displays current and peak CO levels in parts per million on an alpha-numeric digital display, with audible and visual alert signals activated at 5 ppm. The LL6070 also features a secure mounting system and non-removable batteries that are warranted to last for ten years.

In a recent lab test of low level carbon monoxide detectors, eight different brands of detectors were simultaneously exposed to a slowly increasing concentration of CO from indoor burning of charcoal briquets. Alarms were tested for accuracy in reporting CO levels, as well as for sensitivity to CO at concentrations below the minimum UL2034 requirement of 30 ppm. All models performed as advertised with no false alarms or failure to activate preset alerts.
