Charlie Harmon Johnson Sr., worked for VDOT
Charlie "Paw Paw" Harmon Johnson Sr., 75, of Front Royal, died Sept. 3 at his home. He was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Horry County, S.C., to the late Elbert and Fannie Mae Mishoe Johnson.
Mr. Johnson retired from Avtex Fibers after 32 years and then worked for VDOT for the past 19 years.
His wife of over 42 years, Daisy Lee Butler Johnson, preceded him in death in 1997. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Julius Paul Johnson, and one sister, Lillie Lietz.
Surviving are three daughters, Darlene V. Hilliards, Dana M. Johnson-Henry and Lana A. Dunivan, all of Front Royal; one son, Charlie "Chuck" H. Johnson Jr. of Linden; 16 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include one sister, Mary Sue Fowler of South Carolina, and one brother, David Johnson of Seymour, Ind.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, with interment at Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.
