Man dies in boating incident

On Monday, shortly after 11:00 a.m., the Prince William County Police Department in conjunction with the Prince William County Fire & Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, Charles County Fire & Rescue Department, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and Fairfax County Fire & Rescue investigated a crash involving an 18 ft. long vessel.
The investigation revealed that a 15-year-old girl was operating the vessel when it collided with the wooden pilings that are located underneath the Quantico Creek Bridge. During the crash an adult male fell in the water and the 15-year-old girl was injured. The female victim was transported to a local hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. members from the PWCPD diving team recovered the body of the male victim.  The victim was identified as William K. Wordham, 49, residing at Orkin Lane in Dale City. Both victims were not wearing their personal flotation devices.
