Staples celebrates opening of Gainesville store

Staples Inc. celebrated the opening of its first store in Gainesville with a $1,500 donation from Staples Foundation for Learning to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.  Staples General Manager Dawn Hemma joined Gainesville District Supervisor John Stirrup and Paul Alagero, director of giving for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, in a ribbon-shredding ceremony to officially open the new Staples at 7973 Stonewall Shoppes Square. Representatives from the Prince William County Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce also attended the celebration.

The new Staples store in Gainesville will create approximately 30 new jobs.

This donation will support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington’s academic and enrichment programs for local students. Additionally, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington has been selected as the recipient of school supplies collected through Do Something 101, a back-to-school supply. Through Aug. 31, local teens are encouraged to participate in the campaign by collecting new school supplies and dropping them off at the new Gainesville Staples store.  The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington will distribute the school supplies to local students in need in time for school. All residents can join the cause by adding extra school supplies to their shopping cart to drop in the store’s collection bin, or by donating $2, with proceeds benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.
