New location needed for recycling trailer
The recycling drop-off trailer located at Potomac Community Library will close permanently on Aug. 31. After that date, the recycling trailer at Potomac Community Library will not be available to the public, and no recyclable materials should be left at that site.Solid Waste Division staff continues to search for a more suitable location and in the meantime suggest that residents use one of the following recycling trailers:
Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Government Building: 15941 Donald Curtis Dr., Woodbridge
Birchdale Recreation Center: 14730 Birchdale Ave., Dale City
The county’s Solid Waste Division operates 16 recycling trailer sites throughout the county. The recycling drop-off trailers are part of the county’s comprehensive recycling program, which recycled more than 1.5 million pounds of glass, plastic, and metal food and beverage containers and paper last year.
Recycling trailers work best in areas that are well lit and with clear visibility from public right of way. The recycling trailers, which are about 23 feet long and nine feet wide typically occupy about two to three parking spaces and are serviced by the Solid Waste Division. Anyone interested in hosting a recycling trailer, please contact Scott MacDonald in the Solid Waste Division at 703-792-4670.
